Bernd Harzog is the CEO and founder of APMExperts. Bernd formed APMExperts because he saw a wide gulf in between the needs of enterprises struggling to support important on-line business applications, and the traditional offerings of "infrastructure oriented" systems management companies. In his role as CEO of APMExperts, Bernd works closely with selected vendors and enterprises helping both be more effective in their respective delivery and use of real Applications Performance Management solutions.
Bernd is a former software company executive and industry analyst, who focuses upon helping enterprises make the correct decision for their Application Performance Management needs, and focuses upon helping vendors develop and implement truly differentiated and effective business strategies.
Bernd was most recently CEO of RTO Software, Inc., where he took the company from a four person startup, to a successful entry into the Performance Management market for Citrix MetaFrame Terminal Servers, and from there to a new and even more exciting set of product offerings. Prior to RTO Bernd was the VP of Products at Netuitive where he was responsible for turning their statistics engine into an Applications Performance Management product.
Prior to RTO and Netuitive, Bernd was a strategy consultant and industry analyst. During the launch of Windows 95 and Windows NT, Bernd was the Windows Server Operating Systems Analyst for Gartner Group. After Gartner Group, Bernd formed a consulting company that provided strategic marketing services to startups. Clients at that point in time included Microsoft, Synchrologic (since merged with Intellisync), XcelleNet (since merged with Sybase), and MediaBin (since merged with Interwoven).
Bernd started his career in the computer industry with Datapoint where he was involved with Arcnet (the first LAN), and then with Digital Communications Associates where he was the inventor and product manager of the SNA Communications Server product that was co-developed with Microsoft and which later became SNA Server for Windows NT.
